Private security in the UK is an expansive dynamic industry, encompassing a wide range of products and services including close circuit television (CCTV), alarm systems and physical security services such as security guards. The country exports its services; exporters in the sector include amongst many Aegis Defense Services Ltd, G4S and Maritime Asset Security and Training (MAST) Ltd. The Security Industry Authority (SIA) is responsible for regulating the industry. The SIA has licensed over 300,000 people to work in the industry. It has also made it a requirement for front line licence holders to undergo a structured training programme resulting in recognised qualifications.
