Universities and Colleges in Vanuatu

Vanuatu is served by the regional University of the South Pacific (USP). USP’s Emalus Campus in Port Vila, the University’s Vanuatu centre, enrolls 700 – 1,000 students per semester for certificate, diploma, degree and postgraduate courses and comprises USP’s School of Law and the Pacific Languages Unit, as well as distance education and a flexible learning centre and library. The country’s other tertiary education providers include the Vanuatu Institute of Technology (VIT), offering courses in business and technical education; Vanuatu Institute of Teacher Education (VITE); Tagabe Agricultural School; and a school of nursing in Port Vila. The Vanuatu Agriculture College was founded in 2005 to provide training in agribusiness and agro-processing. Matevulu College is a government-run agricultural secondary college. The Training and Scholarships Coordination Unit administers Vanuatu’s national programmer of sponsored scholarships for higher education overseas. Literacy among people aged 15–24 is 94% (2010).
