Find Insurance and Reinsurance expertise in Zambia
Although it no longer has a monopoly, following the reforms of the early 1990s, the state-owned Zambia State Insurance Corporation (ZSIC) remains a leading player in the insurance market. Some of the larger companies operating in Zambia obtain insurance cover from insurers outside Zambia, especially in South Africa. Other than ZSIC, five general insurance companies are licensed to operate, as well as five life insurance companies. Also licensed are two reinsurance companies and numerous brokers and agencies. The Pensions and Insurance Authority is the regulatory body; the Insurers Association of Zambia is the industry body; and the Insurance Institute of Zambia is the professional body for insurance practitioners.
