Key initiatives The Parliament of Ghana is undertaking the following initiatives to enhance the responsiveness of Parliament to the needs of the citizenry: Q Provision of office space for Members of Parliament Q Reconfigured Debating Chamber of Parliament Q Establishment of Parliamentary Training Institute and Scrutiny Office Q Automation of business operations of Parliament Q Review of Standing Orders to empower Committees to conduct independent public investigation into the activities of ministries and state agencies Q Improved stakeholder engagement Q Publication of code of conduct for MPs Inter-parliamentary co-operation Parliament of Ghana is a member of international parliamentary associations including: Q Inter-Parliamentary Union(IPU) Q Commonwealth Parliamentary Association(CPA) Q African Parliamentary Union(APU) Q ECOWAS Parliament Q African Caribbean Pacific/European Union(ACP/EU) Q Pan African Parliament(PAP) Q African Parliamentarians’ Network against Corruption (APNAC) Q Annually, the Parliament of Ghana hosts more than 20 study and fraternal visits from sister Parliaments from Africa and beyond. Top: The coat-of-arms is the symbol of the country’s independence. The Speaker’s Ceremonial Chair is embossed with this symbol signifying Parliament’s autonomy.
