Government Ministries

Government ministries such as the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs are supervised by political appointees known as ministers. A minister in The Bahamas government is either a senator or a member of the House of Assembly. The Bahamas Cabinet comprises the prime minister and not less than eight other ministers (of whom one is the attorney-general). The highest ranking civil service employee in each of the ministries is referred to as the permanent secretary.
