Universities and Colleges in Barbados

Tertiary education in Barbados is provided by a number of established institutions. The University of the West Indies (UWI) is affiliated with Barbados, and its local campus is located in Cave Hill, Barbados. The University Council is the main regulatory body of the institution and is made up of representatives of member territories, professors and appointed members. Other higher-education institutions include the Barbados Community College (BCC); one of its key courses is a three-year Basic Nursing course that leads to the Registered Nursing Certificate, while the other key operation is its Hospitality Institute. In terms of equipping future teachers, Erdiston Teacher’s College is a leading institution. Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic (SJPP) offers various trade and craft courses that lead to certifications and qualifications from the City and Guilds of London Institute and the Royal Society of Arts.
