Tourism in Jamaica

Jamaica is a tropical paradise and the largest English-speaking island in the Caribbean. Known for its warm and friendly people, crystal clear waters and welcoming climate, the island remains one of the world’s favourite tourist destinations. There is much to do and see in Jamaica, including hiking and climbing the exotic Blue Mountains that are over 2,000 metres high, and exploring the labyrinthine limestone caves, a stunning natural phenomena on the north coast. The island also has diverse bird and plant species for nature lovers. Taking a rejuvenating splash in the Milk River Bath, a natural spa discovered in 1794, has long been one of the country’s favourite tourist attractions. Aside from the natural splendours, the island also offers a modern shopping experience in Montego Bay, and a wealth of art and heritage sites in the capital city, Kingston. For the more adventurous traveller, there is bamboo rafting down the Rio Grande, one of Jamaica’s largest rivers, which rushes down from the Blue Mountains and wends its way through the country’s banana and sugarcane plantations.
