There are around 600 internet users among Nauru’s population of roughly 10,000 (2010) but the level of PC-ownership is significantly less. There are no local computer suppliers or technicians, most hardware, software and technical assistance must be imported. Major international hardware and software firms, such as IBM, HP and Microsoft operate in the South Pacific region and use offices in Australian and New Zealand. A limited selection of office supplies can be purchased from stores on the island, but most supplies will have to be imported.
