Find National NGO expertise in Rwanda

The NGO and civil society community is rapidly growing. After the atrocities of the 1994 genocide most NGOs concentrated their activities on emergency relief and welfare to try to help assist the communities most vulnerable. Organisations like Save the Children were involved in attempting to reunite family members who were separated during the genocide. The NGO community had a significant role during this period and also collaborated on public service delivery with local government. NGOs in the country have subsequently expanded to assist in areas like environmental sustainability, gender awareness, health and education. Aid is channelled through numerous local and international NGO projects. NGOs must register with the Ministry of Local Government and the Ministry of Justice.
