Find National NGO expertise in South Africa

There are over a hundred thousand non-governmental organisations (NGOs) operating in South Africa. Funding for health, education, good governance and social development is well supported. The South African National NGO Coalition (SANGOCO) is the largest umbrella body of NGOs in the country and the greater Southern African region. The Non-Profit Organisations Act of 1997 is the relevant legislation for NGOs and CSOs that want to establish themselves in South Africa and provides a regulatory framework to maintain transparency. The Department of Social Development is tasked with overseeing NGOs that seek to register.
