Prime Minister

The Prime Minister of Barbados, an MP who is the leader of the largest party in parliament, is appointed by the governor-general. The prime minister heads the cabinet. Ministers are appointed from either House by the governor-general, as advised by the prime minister. General elections are held at a minimum of five-year intervals; however, a general election may also be held if parliament is dissolved by the governor-general on the advice of the prime minister.
