Bilateral and Multilateral Co-operation

Cyprus’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs operates four departments which are responsible for conducting bilateral relations with countries and regional organisations in specific geographic areas. These are the Department of the Americas, Department of Africa, Department of the Middle East and the Department of Asia and Oceania.

The country participates in numerous multilateral organisations including the United Nations, the World Trade Organisation and the Commonwealth of Nations, and is also a signatory of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency Agreement.

Cyprus is one of only three Commonwealth countries that is a member of the European Union.
