The most prominent investment and promotion agency in Grenada is the Grenada Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), which was established in 1985 through the enactment of the Grenada Industrial Corporation Act, Act 2 of 1985. GIDC is overseen by a Board of Directors appointed by the Minister with responsibility for Finance & Industry. GIDC’s goals include attracting new foreign direct investment; facilitating growth and development of existing businesses; and increasing the number of local profitable small businesses registered and operating throughout Grenada. Other development agencies include the Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export) and the Caribbean Tourism Organisation. Grenada’s FDI net inflows were reported at around 8.2 per cent of GDP in 2010, according to the World Bank (2011).
