St Kitts and Nevis is a net importer of goods and services. Its net imports accounted for 20% of GDP in 2005, and the average ad valorem tariff for imported goods was 9% in 2009. In 2010, imports amounted to an estimated value of $292.7 million, whilst exports totaled $61.7 million. The majority of St Kitts and Nevis’ imports come from the US, and are centred around machinery, manufacturers, food and fuels. Other significant import partners are Trinidad and Tobago, Poland and Barbados. The US is also the main destination for the country’s exports, which include machinery, food, electronics, beverages and tobacco.
