Prime Minister

The Prime Minister of Tuvalu is the head of government. The prime minister is elected by parliament from among its members. Parliamentary elections are held by universal suffrage of all citizens over 18 years of age, and are held at least every four years. Parliament can remove the prime minister from office by passing a no confidence vote. The office and residence of the prime minister is located at Vaiaku, on the island of Funafuti which is the country’s capital.
