Government Ministries
The nine ministries of Malta’s cabinet represent the key concerns of government; these include the Office of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry for Infrastructure, Transport and Communications, and the Ministry for Justice and Home Affairs. Each of these ministries has a portfolio of duties; the Office of the Prime Minister for example is responsible for the armed forces, as well as tourism and heritage. The administrative head of the public service in each ministry is the permanent secretary. The Public Service is the permanent administrative machinery of the government of Malta. The head of the public service in Malta is the Chairperson of the Public Service Commission.
