Vanuatu lacks a formalised advertising and public-relations sector, primarily due to the ongoing development of Vanuatu’s industries. However, many financial institutions and tourism-based companies conduct advertising and marketing operations in-house to attract business at both an international and regional level. The Ministry of Trade, Tourism, Commerce and Industry is the key government body overseeing the sector.

Online and newspaper advertising space can be purchased from Vanuatu’s various newspaper publishers. Advertising on commercial radio and television is also an important channel for businesses in Vanuatu.

Internet advertising is a key medium for tourism, Vanuatu’s largest contributor to GDP and in 2012 Vanuatu’s Tourist Board accepted voluntary visiting marketing advisers from Australia.
