Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality

Mangaung, “Place of the Cheetahs” in Sesotho, is a metropolitan municipality in the Free State province. Prior to 2011, it was a local municipality in the Motheo District Municipality. The government and finance sectors constitute the fastest growing sectors in Mangaung, while small businesses contribute greatly to the economy through the generation of employment and income. Bloemfontein is the judicial capital of South Africa and the capital and municipal seat of the Free State Province. It is often referred to as “the city of roses” due to the wealth of flowers in the city as well as the annual rose festival.
