Xhariep District Municipality

Xhariep is a district municipality in the Free State, consisting of four local municipalities: Kopanong, Letsemeng, Mohokare and Naledi. The administrative headquarters for the district are in Trompsburg. Xhariep holds many natural water and land resources making it prime for agriculture, and the largest dam in South Africa is located in the south of the district. The economy of Xhariep relies mainly upon agriculture, although public service and administration as well as services and retailĀ also contribute significantly. Three national roads provide access to Cape Town, Bloemfontein and Kimberley.
