Mantsopa Local Municipality

Mantsopa is a local municipality in the Thabo Mofutsanyane district, Free State. The main towns are Excelsior, Hobhouse, Ladybrand, Thaba Patchoa and Tweespruit. The municipality borders the Kingdom of Lesotho so tourists to the country often pass through Mantsopa, the area made accessible through a national road and a railway. Lekhalong La Mantsopa and the Maluti Mountains also serve as an attraction for international travellers. The economy is based on agriculture, with most residents of Mantsopa employed in commercial farming, although small businesses and the public sector also contribute.
