Ngqushwa Local Municipality

Ngqushwa is a predominantly rural local municipality in the Amathole district, Eastern Cape. The main towns are Hamburg and Peddie, which is the seat of local government. The main economic sector is agriculture and the area is particularly known for the commercial production of pineapples, vegetables and beef. Ngqushwa is a cultural centre and holds many historical sites, such as the old star-shaped fort at Peddie, which help to attract visitors to the area, while the Mbodla Eco-Heritage Route is a main feature for eco-tourism.
