Chirundu

As of 2012, Chirundu district has been re-aligned from the Southern Province to the Central Province in order to improve administration and service delivery. Its administrative capital is Chirundi, a town located at the border with Zambia and is a key point on the Great North Road. The town is home to two of the five major road or rail bridges across the Zambezi river, the Chirundu Bridges. The district is also home to the Chirundu Petrified forest, an area of fossil trees which is listed as a National monument.
