Serenje

Serenje is a district in the Central Province with the town of Serenje as its capital. Subsistence agriculture dominates the economy. The town of Serenje is also known as BOMA, having been designated a British Overseas Military Administration in the past. Nearby tourist attractions include the Nsalu cave and rock paintings, which date back over 12,000 years, and the Kundalila Falls on the Kaombe River. Meanwhile, the Kasanka National Park forms a conservation sanctuary for many forms of bird and wildlife, including the Sitatunga antelope, and houses the world’s largest known congregation of fruit bats.
