Chitambo

Chitambo District is situated in the extreme south-western corner of the Eastern Province. The administrative capital of the district is Chitambo, a small town situated in the mountainous south east. The Luangwa River runs through the District, which is one of the major tributaries of the Zambezi River, and one of the four biggest rivers in Zambia. It is one of the biggest unaltered rivers in Southern Africa and the 20,000 square miles (around 50,000 square kilometers) that make up the surrounding valley are home to abundant wildlife.
