Shiwang'andu

Shiwang’andu District is located in the newly created Muchinga Province. The Shiwang’andu District is named after Lake Ishiba Ng’andu which means ‘lake of the royal crocodile’ in the local Bemba language. It is home to the Shiwa Ngandu estate built in the early 20th century by British aristocrat Sir Stewart Gore-Browne who worked in the country for the Anglo-Belgian Boundary Commission and returned there after the First World War to build his home.
