Amuria

Amuria District, named for its chief town, is located in the Teso sub-region of the Eastern Region, Uganda. Prior to 2005, Amuria was part of the Katakwi District. It is made up of two counties: Amuria and Kapelebyong.

Agriculture dominates the district’s economy, with over 90% of people engaging in subsistence farming, animal rearing, or both. District crops include cassava, sweet potatoes, groundnuts, millet, peas, simsim, cotton, sunflower, rice, maize, beans, soybeans and oranges.
