Engcobo Local Municipality

Engcobo, isiXhosa for the sweet grass prevalent in the area, is a local municipality in the Chris Hani district, Eastern Cape. The main town and the seat of local government is Ngcobo, formerly known as Engcobo. The town is known nationally for its natural beauty, and the whole of Engcobo attracts visitors through its cultural offerings which include cave paintings, forests and traditional Xhosa communities. The main economic sectors include agriculture, forestry, trade and tourism.
