Sakhisizwe Local Municipality

Sakhisizwe, isiXhosa for “we are building the nation”, is a local municipality in the Chris Hani district, Eastern Cape. The main towns are Elliot and Cale, which is the seat of local government. The main economic sectors are community services, agriculture and trade, although tourism in the area is also being developed. Tourist attractions include the Bathandwa Ndondo Route as well as the historical site of Bathandwa Ndondo’s assassination.
