West Rand District Municipality

West Rand is a district municipality consisting of four local municipalities: Merafong City, Mogale City, Westonaria and Randfontein, the seat of the district’s municipality. The main economic sector is mining, although tourism, manufacturing and transport also contribute significantly. Many people living within West Rand commute to Johannesburg for work. The district is looking to further address the issue of climate change by attracting private investors to help with the growth of sustainable industries in West Rand.
