Napak

Napak, which was created in 2010, is part of the Karamoja sub-region which consists of the Abim, Amudat, Kaabong, Kotido, Moroto, Nakapiripirit and Napak Districts. It is a scenic, rural district and boasts many tourist attractions including game reserves, game parks and mountains such as Mt Napak and Mt Kamalinga. There is great potential for the development of tourist activities such as mountain climbing and bird and wildlife safaris. The semi-arid climate supports Savannah species such as grasses and dry tree species although some forest areas are supported at higher altitudes. In addition to these natural resources, Gum Arabic, aloe and honey are produced in Napak and deposits of graphite found in the region offer potential for extraction.
