Nwoya

Nwoya in north-west Uganda is a picturesque agricultural district. The majority of the population is engaged in pastoralism or agriculture. The fertile ground has great potential for large-scale agriculture but, at present, small-scale farming is the dominant sector. The most commonly grown crops are cotton and tobacco as cash crops ad maize, millet, cassava and groundnuts as food crops. Fishing has, in the past, been a major economic activity and efforts are being made to reinvigorate this sector along the banks of the Nile which forms one of the district’s borders.
