Yumbe

Yumbe district is in Uganda’s Northern Region. Yumbe was formed in 2006 from Aringa County from the Arua district and borders South Sudan to the north. The predominant economic activity in the district is agriculture and the most common crops include millet, sweet potatoes, beans, papaya and avocado. Some fishing and hunting, particularly surrounding the river Nile, also takes place and contributes to the local food supply. There is potential for the development of the tourist industry with such attractions as the Kochi waterfalls.
