CBC promotes economic empowerment for shared prosperity within the Commonwealth and beyond. To this end, CBC works to promote and facilitate trade and investment across the Commonwealth and between emerging and developed markets, improve corporate citizenship, national and international economic governance, and further the spread of e-commerce and the use of ICTs for development. CBC is a membership organisation, bringing together 120 major companies from the Commonwealth, including many industry leaders and some of the world’s largest companies. CBC also works very closely with its public sector constituency, bringing together the private sector and governments on a range of issues important to the economic development of all member countries.
Officers: CBC is managed by a Board of Management, chosen from among its Council membership, co-chaired by Dr Mohan Kaul (UK) and John Denton (Australia); Acting Director-General: Peter Longworth CMG
Activities: Policy papers and programmes; investment and trade conferences and workshops, including the Commonwealth Business Forum and national and regional investment forums; topical working groups and allied activities; and advisory services to individual governments on economic and commercial matters. All these activities aim at improved collaboration by Commonwealth governments and business on trade and investment for shared prosperity. CBC also offers a range of commercial services to both public and private constituents, including education and training services, publication services, technology services and business support, and business introduction services.
Publications: Policy reports and submissions to Commonwealth Heads of Government and ministerial meetings; investment surveys, business environment surveys, specially commissioned studies and conference reports; and newsletter.
