Kayunga

Kayunga is a district located in the Central Region of Uganda. Prior to 2000 the area was part of the Mukono District, consisting of two counties: Bbaale and Ntenjeru. There are many unspoilt tourist attractions in Kayunga including Kalagala Falls, Kalagala Cultural Site, Kilindi Rafting Site, the Sezibwa Wetlands and the Seta Nyize Cultural site.

The main economic activity in the district is agriculture, representing 90% of the total employment. Both livestock farming and subsistence agriculture takes place, with the most common crops produced including cassava, maize, millet, plantain, pineapples, watermelons and passion fruits. Kayunga District is Uganda’s leading producer of vanilla.
