Wakiso

Wakiso District, located in the Central Region of Uganda, encircles the country’s capital city of Kampala.

There are many tourist attractions in Wakiso District, not least of which is Lake Victoria itself, a magnificent site of natural beauty and top location for water sports. Ngamba Island on the great lake serves as a sanctuary for chimpanzees while the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre on the shores of the lake offers tours of the area. The education centre covers 72 acres and thousands of wildlife species, representing three of the country’s ecosystems: The Wetland, The Savannah and The Forest. On the Lake Victoria peninsula, the town of Entebbe boasts strong historical and cultural links, having been the seat of government prior to Uganda’s independence. Entebbe Botanical Gardens, Uganda’s only national botanical gardens, and the Entebbe International Airport are also located here.
