Mityana

Mityana District, named for its chief town, was formed from the Mityana and Busujju counties of Mubende District in 2005 and is located in the Central Region of Uganda.

The main economic activity in the district is agriculture, with crop production including the cash crops tea and coffee as well as cassava, maize, onions, groundnuts, sweet potatoes and bananas. The area is home to several large scale tea estates including the Namutamba Tea Estate and the Mwera Tea Estate.
