Rakai

Rakai District is located in the Central Region of Uganda. The district shares a border with the neighbouring country of Tanzania and as a result sees a lot of cross border commercial traffic to and from Bukoba. Agriculture is the mainstay of Rakai District’s economy, employing 85% of its people. Crops grown include matooke, beans, cassava and potatoes for food while coffee is the main cash crop. Livestock reared includes cattle, goats, pigs and poultry.

Local tourist attractions include the Ostrich Eco-Tourist Campsite Kakuuto, in Kasoga Village, which offers bird watching, trail walking and ostrich riding.
