Kabarole
Kabarole District is in Western Uganda within the Toro sub-region made up of Kabarole, Kamwenge, Kyegewa and Kyenjojo districts. The district borders the Democratic Republic of Congo to the south and is divided from Bundibugyo district to the south west by the Rwenzori Mountains. The district capital is at Fort Portal. The majority of the population is engaged in small-scale agriculture and livestock rearing. Some of the most commonly grown crops are fruit and vegetables, bananas and cassava as well as tea and coffee. Commercial fishing takes place on some of the numerous crater lakes and rivers around the district and aquaculture is a growing industry. Tourism is another growing and important area of activity and the Kibale National Park lies within the Kabarole District.
