Rukungiri

Rukungiri district is in south-west Uganda, in the Western Region and borders the Democratic Republic of Congo to the north-west. The majority of the workforce is engaged in agriculture, exploiting the district’s fertile soils and growing crops including coffee, matooke as well as grapes, pears and peaches. Rukungiri District is also a major centre of milk production in the wider Western Uganda area. Tourism is another important industry in the area with attractions including part of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, part of the Queen Elizabeth National Park, hot springs and geysers as well as the Kisizi Falls.
