Kisoro

Kisoro District in Uganda’s Western Region is in the south-west corner of the country and borders both Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The district is characterised by an undulating landscape and has wetland and forest areas. Much of the workforce is engaged in small-scale agriculture and livestock production with common crops including maize, potatoes, beans, onions and tomatoes. Some large-scale commercial cattle ranching is practised in the area with a few large companies dominating the sector. Kisoro is also the starting point for the popular Gorilla treks which draw many tourists in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
