Kanungu

Kanungu District in Western Uganda was created in 2001 and borders the Democratic Republic of Congo to the west. The majority of the population is engaged in small-scale agricultural production and the district boasts a good climate and fertile soils. Much of the district lies at high altitude and, while this does mean that it is more difficult to transport goods to market, it also means that crops such as grapes, apples and pears can be grown in the area. Many people also keep cattle mostly for small-scale milk production.
