Masindi

Masindi District is in Uganda’s Western Region and has its capital at Masindi. The majority of the population is engaged in small-scale agriculture growing crops including millet, cassava, potatoes and cotton. Fishing on the banks of Lake Albert is another important source of food and income and aquaculture is a growing sector contributing to the district’s fisheries industry. There has also been an increase in apiary and honey production. Tourism in the district is another growing sector with the Murchison Falls National Park, the Butiaba Port, the Bugungu Wildlife and Forest Reserve as well as Omukama’s Palace.
