Regions in Kenya

Wallpapers-Kenya-Lugard-Falls-HDcroppedKenya is a presidential representative democratic republic, whereby the president is the head of state and government, and executive power is exercised by the executive branch of government and legislative power is vested exclusively in Parliament. Under the former Constitution of Kenya, the eight provinces were sub-divided into districts, but were soon subject to the process of devolution into counties, of which there are now 47, and constituencies which are sub-divisions of counties, of which there are 290. These counties and constituencies were created in 2010 through the new constitution of Kenya. The number of counties is however based on the former administrative districts, of which they closely replicate in geographical boundaries. The counties also act as single member constituencies for the election of members of parliament to the Senate of Kenya. The following discusses each of these counties, focusing on the key features of each.
