Murang’a County

Murang’a is a county is situated in the former Central Province of Kenya. It is made up of seven constituencies: Kangema, Mathioya, Kiharu, Kigumo, Maragwa, Kandara and Gatanga. The capital of the county is Murang’a town.

The Aberdare forest in the north of Murang’a County serves as a popular attraction for eco-tourism, hosting a wide variety of flora and fauna. Nearby, the Aberdare National Park on the Aberdare mountain range is a critical habitat for rhinos.

Murang’a is predominantly an agricultural county, with main produce including tea, coffee and maize as well as cattle. The county’s proximity to Nairobi sets it up as a hub of commerce and trade, which are facilitated through its high population.
