Vihiga County

Vihiga County is located in South Western Kenya, and shares its borders with Kakagema County to the North, Nandi County to the East, Kismu County to the South, and Siaya County to the West. With an area of 530km2, the county has an average rainfall of about 1900mm and an average temperature of 24°C. As a result of the favourable climate, agriculture is the main economic activity, with the main crops planted including tea, maize, millet, bananas, avocado, papaya, sweet potatoes and cassava. The county also has a fair amount of forest including the Kibiri forest, which is a direct extension of Kakamega forest in the northerly parts of the county.
