Uasin Gishu County

Uasin Gishu is a largely cosmopolitan county situated in the mid-west of the Rift Valley Province of Kenya. It is made up of six constituencies: Soy, Turbo, Moiben, Ainabkoi, Kapseret and Kesses. Eldoret Town, the country’s fourth largest town, is the capital of the county. Home to many of Kenya’s top athletes, Uasin Gishu has established several training camps to nurture new athletic talent.

The economy is dominated by agriculture with activities centring on the production of maize, wheat and dairy, making Uasin Gishu one of the greatest contributors to food security in Kenya. The county also has a broad industrial base particularly around Eldoret Town. Kenya’s third international airport is situated in the county and routinely handles large amounts of cargo from the Middle East, helping to expand the region’s import and export market.
