Busia County

Busia County is located in Western Kenya, and much of its 1,695km2 is taken up by the Lake Victoria Basin. The presence of Lake Victoria has allowed local residents to practice fishing which is as a result a major economic activity in the county. However, the county is also the main entry point between Kenya and Uganda, and as a result the majority of trade occurs through the county. Given the favourable climatic conditions, agriculture is also fairly extensively practiced, with the main crops grown including Cassava, millet, sweet potatoes, beans and maize.
