Kiambu County

Kiambu is a county is situated in central Kenya. It is made up of twelve constituencies and shares a border with Nairobi. The capital of the county is Kiambu town. Sites of natural beauty, such as expanses of forest, attract eco-tourists to the area and allow for camping activities and expeditions.

Traditionally, the economy of Kiambu County has been based on agriculture, particularly the production of tea and coffee, due to its rich highland soil and good climate. In recent years, the county’s proximity to Nairobi has facilitated the growth of its services sector which is now vying with agriculture as the area’s main economic activity. As a result Kiambu is undergoing rapid urbanisation.
