Mombasa County

Mombasa county, in south east Kenya, is home to the country’s second city after the capital Nairobi. It is the Kenya’s only major seaport, Kilindini Harbour, and is a key trade point for Kenya and neighbouring countries. As well as being an important export point, Mombasa County is home to Fort Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built on Mombasa Island on the orders of King Philip I of Portugal. Other tourist attractions include marine parks and sandy beaches on the coastline of the Indian Ocean and tourism is one of Mombasa’s major industries. Other key economic activities in the Mombasa are fishing and commerce.
