Siaya County

Siaya County is located in the South Western part of Kenya, and is most famous for being the home county of US President Barrack Obama. The county has a fairly large population of 500,000 people. The county has seven Local Authorities, with Siaya town the administrative capital. The county has an annual rainfall of about 1,300mm, and with a temperature range between 15-30 degrees Celsius, the county is well suited to agriculture. As a result, agriculture is a main economic activity with rice, cotton, coffee, sugarcane, tobacco, kales, bananas, sweet potatoes and cassava the main crops grown. Fishing is also an important economic activity, and to a lesser degree, cattle and poultry.
